Siculish is the rediscovery and revival of the hybrid language born from Sicilian immigration to America.
Siculish is a cultural movement preserving a language that was never written down. Born from the words Sicilian immigrants invented to survive in a new country — Brucculinu for Brooklyn, Rifriguirera for refrigerator — Siculish documents this hybrid vocabulary through a wearable collection, a growing word archive, and a Voice Archive recording the last native speakers before they're gone.
Between 1880 and 1924, over four million Sicilians crossed the Atlantic and arrived in a country whose language their mouths had never made. So they did what Sicilians always do: they adapted. Brooklyn became Brucculinu. The boss became u Bossu. The refrigerator became Rifriguirera. This was Siculish — a macaronic hybrid language, passed mouth-to-mouth through tenement kitchens and longshoreman docks for over a century before anyone thought to name it. Siculish the brand was born in March 2026, at a breakfast in San Diego, when founders Leandro and Roberto set out to give this language the monument it deserves. Today, Siculish preserves the words through a wearable collection, a living word archive of 100+ terms across three eras, and a Voice Archive racing to record native speakers in their 80s and 90s before their words are lost forever.
A phone call in the States. A Sicilian friend was running late—said "calmati" and Leandro heard "Karmati." Two words collided. Two languages merged into something new, something that had never existed before. Something unmistakably Siculish. One conversation with Roberto followed. And with it, the birth of Siculish.
